My counselling room in North Wiltshire
What to look for in a counsellor
In order to benefit most from counselling you need to speak to someone who you feel comfortable with, who can provide the level of support you need and who can empathise with you.
Ring me or email me today and we can discuss whether I may be able to help you. If, after discussion, we decide that we are not likely to be able to work productively together on your particular problem, I will always try to provide you with alternative contacts.
How can my counselling help you?
These are just some of the areas in which I can work with you:
- Relationship difficulties of all kinds - I can assist in exploring the issues involved and work with you to find a way forward. I also engage in counselling with couples.
- Bereavement - death of a loved one can be hard to bear and may leave many unresolved issues. Other losses can impact strongly on us too. Grief work can be of immense benefit.
- Stress - most of us become stressed at times and it can be triggered by many causes. I can work with you to help you manage your stress more effectively.
- Personal growth - realising our potential can make a tremendous difference. I can help you discover what you really want and work with you to bring that about.
- Loss of focus - the feeling of not achieving or performing as you would like to can be distressing and demoralising. I can work with you, looking at why this is happening and how you can begin to feel better about yourself.
- Anxiety and depression can be overwhelming and impact on every area of your life. Symptoms such as panic attacks and phobias can be difficult to live with. I can work with you towards making a real difference.
- Obsessions and compulsions can take over your life, leaving less time for the things you would really like to be doing. Helping you to take control can be very effective.
- Self harm - I can work with you to help you gain an awareness of the emotional dynamics involved in what you are doing. You can change your behaviour.
- Anger management - learning to challenge the meaning you ascribe to situations can impact positively on how you feel and your subsequent behaviour.
- Low self esteem can diminish you, affect relationships and impact on many areas of your life. Examining past life experiences can help in moving forward and changing established patterns.
- Eating disorders - I can help you regain self control over your eating behaviour.
- Addictions - These can rob you of the ability to see and deal with reality. I can work alongside you to help you defeat them.
- Bullying/harassment - Experiencing these can erode your self-esteem and confidence. I can help you deal with the huge gamut of emotions, including anger and shame, which these often generate.
